    About Clear Skin Smoothie

    • Taste - The smoothie is packed with sweet fruit flavors and earthiness from the kale and spinach.
    • Texture - It is perfectly creamy and thick.
    • Effort - All you need to do is put the ingredients in the blender and pulse them.
    • Time - It takes just a few minutes to blend.

    My Journey to Clear Skin

A few years ago, I developed hormonal acne and I was honestly mortified. I always had clear, healthy skin growing up and didn't even have acne as a teenager, so when I developed painful cystic acne in my early twenties, I wanted to crawl under a rock.

I went to many doctors, tried every acne product on the planet, and cried tears of frustration because nothing worked. I spent countless hours researching as much as I could about skin care and how to cure acne to no avail.

After many setbacks, I scheduled an appointment with my mom's dermatologist as a last-ditch effort. I did not have high expectations, but my new doctor immediately diagnosed my hormonal acne and wrote me a prescription. The medicine worked within a couple of weeks and I cried from happiness and relief! The medicine worked wonders and my skin was clear, but I wanted to add a smoothie to my routine to make my skin more hydrated.

How This Smoothie Makes Your Skin Glow

In a world where we sit in front of computer screens indoors all day, it's seemingly difficult to achieve glowing skin. Luckily, you can add something nourishing and simple to your routine, like the Clear Skin Smoothie. This smoothie is full of vitamin-packed fruit and leafy greens to brighten your skin, which I simply blend in my Vitamix. A couple of glasses of this smoothie leave my body feeling nourished and my skin feeling hydrated.

Pineapple and mango are rich with enzymes and vitamins A and C, which are excellent for preventing acne and fine lines. Spinach, kale, and honey are full of antioxidants, making a for glowing, beautiful complexion. Chia seeds have omega-3 fatty acids and are anti-inflammatory. This combination of nutrient-dense antioxidant ingredients will make your skin and feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

    Substitutions and Variations

    • Coconut milk or water - Use coconut milk or water if you want to add coconut flavor. Just be aware that coconut milk will thicken the smoothie while coconut water will thin it.
    • Kefir - Kefir is a thin, probiotic-rich yogurt-like drink. It has a tart and tangy in flavor, and is high in protein.
    • Shredded coconut - Shredded coconut provides a light and fruity accent to the smoothie and garnish.
    • Collagen powder - Collagen powder dissolves in the smoothie mixture and is virtually tasteless. It supports youthful, glowing skin, strong nails, healthy hair, and joints.
    • Agave - Use agave sweetener instead of honey for a slightly sweeter alternative.

    Instructions

    • In a blender, add rice milk, kale, spinach first.  Then add the banana, mango, pineapple on top.  Top with honey and chia seeds.
    • Blend on low to break up the ingredients, then turn on high for 2 minutes, or until smooth.
    • Serve in chilled glasses and garnish with pineapple slices.

    Top Tips

    1. Keep an eye on the ingredients as you blend to ensure they don't over blend and become watery.
    2. Use frozen fruit because it keeps the smoothie cold without diluting the flavor.

    Storage

This healthy smoothie for clear skin should be kept in an air-tight glass pitcher or in glass bottles for up to 3 days in a refrigerator. The glass bottles are great because they are reusable and you can take them to go.

Hi Brittany, I'm so sorry you're going through this. Persistent acne is so frustrating. My derm prescribed spironolactone and a couple of topical solutions. The combination of the medicine and consuming leafy greens and low-sugar smoothies like the Clear Skin Smoothie helped SO much. Feel free to email me if you have any more specific questions!
