Oven-Roasted Garlic adds deep, caramelized garlic flavor to any dish! All you need is a whole garlic bulb, a drizzle of olive oil, and aluminum foil. Use roasted garlic to enhance recipes, like garlic mashed potatoes, garlic bread, compound butter, dips, and more.

Ingredients
- Garlic - Garlic has a classic herbaceous and pungent aroma.
- Olive oil - Olive oil is a delicious fat to roast the garlic in.

Substitutions/Variations
- Flavored olive oil - Try our recipe with a a truffle or herb-infused olive oil.
- Spicy - Sprinkle the garlic with some paprika or red pepper chili flakes to make the garlic spicy.
- Flavored salt - If you are enjoying this garlic spread on bread, try it with flavored salt for an extra flavor dimension.
- No foil - You can also roast garlic without foil in a ramekin or cocotte.
Instructions
- Prepare oven - Heat oven to 400° F. Tear off a square of aluminum foil that is large enough to wrap a whole bulb of garlic.
- Prepare garlic - Remove the skin on the outside of the garlic bulb to reveal the individual cloves. Slice off about a quarter inch off of the top of the garlic bulb so the raw cloves are exposed. (Photo 1 and 2)
- Wrap garlic - Place the garlic cut side up on the aluminum foil and drizzle the cloves with olive oil. Wrap the garlic tightly in the aluminum foil. (Photo 3 and 4)
- Roast - Place the aluminum foil-wrapped garlic on a baking sheet and place it on the middle rack in the oven. Roast for 40-45 minutes. (Photo 5)
- Remove roasted garlic - Allow the garlic to cool then use a small fork, chopsticks, or your hands to remove the roasted garlic cloves. To use your hands, pinch the bottom of the bulb with your fingers and squeeze in an upward motion to push out the garlic. (Photo 6, 7, and 8)
Pro tip - Make sure you get a lot of olive oil in the cloves so the they roast thoroughly.
What to Serve with Roasted Garlic
Roasted Garlic enhances the flavor of so many different dishes! We love it spread on bread for an appetizer or with our Bavette Steak, Crispy White Fish, or Cast Iron Chicken as a main course. Storage
This roasted garlic is best enjoyed fresh. But if you have leftover garlic, be sure to remove the garlic from the skin. Then store roasted garlic in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 3 days.
