    Cozy up with this Christmas Simmer Pot! This holiday stovetop potpourri is perfect for adding a fresh, seasonal scent to your space. Made with a blend of fresh orange slices, cranberries, rosemary, and cinnamon sticks, this simmer pot is sure to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Enjoy it while wrapping presents, watching holiday movies, or hosting guests!

    Christmas stovetop potpourri with fresh cranberries, rosemary, cinnamon sticks, and fresh sliced oranges in a Le Creuset dutch oven that deodorizes and adds a fresh scent to a home.

    As soon as November and December roll around, we love to get in the holiday spirit. One of our favorite Christmas traditions is to fire up the stove and make this holiday simmer pot. All you need to do is fill the pot with fruits and spices, sit back, and embrace the aroma!

    Ingredients

    Ingredients for a Christmas holiday simmer pot, sliced orange, fresh cranberries, cinnamon sticks, rosemary.
    • Orange - The sliced orange has a citrusy and refreshing scent that cleans the air.
    • Cranberries - Cranberries have a uniquely bright and tart fragrance.
    • Cinnamon sticks - Cinnamon sticks provide a warm atmosphere.
    • Fresh rosemary sprigs - Rosemary adds a slightly piney aroma.

    Substitutions and Variations

    • Fall Simmer Pot - Add some apple and ginger for fall scents. Apple adds the sweet smell of cooking apples and ginger adds a peppery warmth.
    • Nutmeg - Nutmeg gives off a sweet aroma.
    • Cloves - Cloves have strong and lightly spicy scent.
    • Gift - Give the ingredients of a winter stovetop potpourri as a gift during the holidays! Include a whole orange or dehydrated orange slices and place the ingredients in a compostable gift bag adorned with a festive ribbon and gift tag with instructions.

    Stovetop Potpurri Instructions

    To make a winter stovetop simmer pot, add sliced oranges, fresh sprigs of rosemary, cinnamon sticks, and fresh cranberries to a pot with water, then bring to a simmer until fragrant.

    Combine ingredients - Add all of the ingredients to a pot with enough water to fill the pot ¾ full. Then Bring the water to a boil then reduce the water to a simmer with the lid off. Refill with water as necessary.

    Top Tips

    • Adjust the ingredient amounts to make the smell more or less pungent.
    • Be sure to simmer on low heat so the ingredients don't burn.
    • Use high quality ingredients for the best aroma.
    • Clean the air after you cook a big meal. We especially love to make this pot after we cook fish or seafood.

    Ingredients 

    • 1 sliced orange peel-on
    • 1 cup cranberries
    • 2 cinnamon sticks
    • 2-5 fresh rosemary sprigs

    Instructions

    • Add all of the ingredients to a pot with enough water to fill the pot ¾ full. Bring the water to a boil then reduce the water to a simmer with the lid off. Refill with water as necessary.
