Tobiko Gunkan Sushi

Step 1

Make Japanese rice on a stovetop or in rice cooker.

Step 2

Make sushi rice - Season cooked rice with rice vinegar then let rice cool.

Step 3

Cut nori into 6 approx. 1x7-inch strips.

Step 4

Wet hands in bowl of water and put about 2 tbsp of rice in hands.

Step 5

Use palm of your hand to gently form rice into oval shape.

Step 6

Wrap nori around rice.

Step 7

Fill top of pieces with roe and carefully create a small well in middle.

Step 8

Crack quail eggs and place one in each tobiko well.

Step 9

Serve with soy sauce and wasabi if desired.
