Ikura Donburi (Salmon Roe Bowl)

What is Ikura?

Ikura is salmon eggs. It is an orange bead shaped delicacy that is usually marinated for flavor.

Step 1

Make Japanese rice on a stovetop or in rice cooker.

Step 2

Mix soy sauce and mirin and pour over ikura. Let marinate for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Place rice in bowl then place one shiso leaf on  rice.

Step 4

Top bowl with ikura and pinch of nori.

Step 5

Add small dollop of wasabi if desired and serve immediately.
